I was alone in my old room

I was alone in my old room at my grandmother’s house, sitting on the bed and staring. I couldn’t take my eyes off the wall— the old flaky wallpaper with flower patterns and the white background now slightly yellow but moist too. Strange, I didn’t see any leaks. Then I saw a spider pop out of a small crack in the wallpaper, cut across the wall and flit back beneath another small crack in the wallpaper.  I pressed on a section of wall paper that had bubbled up; my fingers trying to force the spider back out. Nothing. So then I ripped the wallpaper open at the top and made a huge gap from end to end.  Suddenly creatures started to fall out of the wall and on to the floor— slimy creatures, glopping out as if in some death jell haze— snakes… and frogs and insects covered in slimy tissue— pushing their way out of the wall. As the wall transforms into a mess of slime and membrane I see a jacket that had been hidden behind the wall and it seems to be the source of this growth— like some alien womb. Then different creatures begin sliding out— cats, seals and alligators but they are completely covered with long furry hair, oozing along like toothpaste squeezed from the tube.  The creatures are gathering at the window, piling up to the sill. A cat pushes open the screen and they plunge toward the open window, silently, methodically as if called upon to do so, falling out the window, involuntarily, dropping like rocks and spilling over….

This was a dream I had the other night. The images stayed with me through the morning (which rarely happens) so I decided to write them down.
